Common itineraries connect a US gateway such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago or New York with a major Chinese hub, then continue to Urumqi, Altay or Kashgar. Airlines, terminals and through-check rules change, so the final plan is built around the issued ticket rather than an assumed connection.
Urumqi, Altay, Kashgar or Yining: choosing the arrival airport
Urumqi offers the broadest domestic network and is the safest starting point for a combined northern and southern trip. Altay is efficient for Kanas and Hemu but has fewer flights and more weather exposure. Kashgar is the logical arrival point for the Pamir, while Yining can shorten a future Ili route but should only be used when the itinerary genuinely needs it.

Season and holiday length
US travellers often have 10–16 days available when combining annual leave and weekends. That makes a 7–10 day Xinjiang land programme practical after allowing two travel days from the US. How many days should a traveller from the USA allow for Xinjiang?
Allow two international travel days and at least five to seven full days in Xinjiang for one region. A 10–14 day programme can combine a northern winter or lake route with Kashgar, but the domestic flight or rail connections must be realistic.
Should I fly first to Urumqi or Kashgar from the USA?
Urumqi offers more domestic connection options. Kashgar is more efficient for a Pamir-focused trip if the international and domestic schedules align. We compare the entire journey rather than selecting an airport from its map location alone.
Can you quote the programme in USD?

Do your prices include US–China flights?
International flights are not included unless the written proposal explicitly lists them. Domestic flights or rail sectors are included only when they appear in the confirmed programme.
What is the best time for a first Xinjiang trip from the USA?
May to October offers more flexible road travel across most regions. December to February is the specialist season for Altay snow and winter photography. The correct choice depends on the landscapes and activities you value.
Can our agency book ground services only?
