This itinerary is designed for Malaysian travellers who want more than an Altay-only break without trying to cover every corner of Xinjiang. It combines Urumqi and Turpan with the northern snow landscapes of Kanas and Hemu, before returning through Sayram Lake.

The route has two long winter driving days. Travellers who prefer more scenic-area time can use the flight-inclusive option or adjust the hotel and pacing in the final quote.

Arrive in Urumqi

Meet the local team at Urumqi airport or railway station and transfer to the hotel. If arrival time allows, visit the Xinjiang Regional Museum for an introduction to the region’s history and cultures.

Drive to Turpan for the Karez irrigation system, a heritage old-town area and the Emin Minaret. Continue toward the Flaming Mountains viewpoint before returning to Urumqi. Winter offers clearer sightseeing conditions but the road day can still be long.

Transfer to the domestic airport or railway station for the separately quoted Urumqi–Altay sector. Meet the Altay driver on arrival and transfer to the hotel. The rest of the day is free to rest and prepare for the snow-country section.
